Tributes have been pouring in for a popular young woman killed in a car crash at the weekend.
Shocked friends of Sharon Smith have described her as a lovely, happy person who had a passion for live music and was always smiling.
The 29-year-old university graduate, who lived in Glasgow, was originally from Dunfermline and at one time worked behind the bar in Monty’s pub in Guildhall Street.
She had been out with former colleagues on Saturday night, just hours before the crash which took her life.
She died on the A985 near High Valleyfield at 2.30am on Sunday.
Miss Smith played for Kirkcaldy Ladies Rugby team last season and although she had not yet played this season, she was hoping to make a return.
The team announced the tragedy “with great sadness” on its Facebook page on Sunday.
The post described her death as a true loss and added: “She was a fantastic team mate and friend to all.
“She will be greatly missed.”
Rugby clubs from across Scotland and beyond have now expressed their own sympathy.
A message from Howe of Fife RFC in Cupar read: “We want to pass our deepest condolences to Sharon’s family, friends and team mates.
“Our thoughts are with you all.”
Miss Smith’s friend Amy Hedges, who worked with her in Monty’s, posted a message on the rugby club’s page saying she was heartbroken and confirming Sharon had loved playing with the team.
Amy and a number of other friends have changed their Facebook profile pictures to a photograph of Miss Smith with a pink heart bearing the message “light a candle for Sharon”.
One friend wrote: “Another light has gone out in Dunfermline.”
Miss Smith was alone in her blue Skoda when tragedy struck and no other vehicle was involved.
The main route between Cairneyhill and Kincardine was closed in both directions for several hours after the accident and police have appealed for witnesses.
