A Markinch resident has told of his shock after seeing a car flip on to its side on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred in the Fife town – on Mitchell Terrace, beside the train station – at around 6pm.
Emergency services attended the scene and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed nobody was injured in the crash.
Blair Buchan, who witnessed the incident, said: “I had just come off the train from Edinburgh and I walked out on to the street from the station and just heard this bang and saw this car flipping onto its side.
“I didn’t hesitate and ran over while dialling 999.
“The police call centre was busy so I waited about five minutes for an answer.
“Once they answered they were very quick in sending police and Glenrothes fire engines arrived shortly after.
“Some older people took me away from the scene because they had seen I was in shock.
“The police came to me and took a statement and my details.”
Emergency response
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We received the initial call from the ambulance service at 6:08pm on Saturday.
“It was a one vehicle collision, and we had one appliance on the scene.
“We were there to stabilise the vehicle.
“There were no injuries, or people trapped. The vehicle was on its side.”
The road was closed while emergency services were on the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a one-car crash in Markinch at around 6pm on Saturday.
“Emergency services attended but there were no reports of any injuries.”
