An online fundraiser has been launched to support the Burntisland sub-postmistress caught up in a spate of armed robberies.
Police have launched a manhunt after a robber threatened Maria Nawaz with a knife and made off with a four figure sum from Burntisland Post Office.
Post offices in Cowdenbeath, Kincardine and Linlithgow were also targeted on Monday in what police believe are related incidents.
Two further raids on the west coast are also thought to be linked to the same suspect.
A crowdfunding page on the JustGiving site has been launched to support Ms Nawaz, with the aim of raising £300.
Eliza Twaddle, who launched the page, said: “So often the internet and social media can be harsh places. However, they can also be tools for great goodness.
“It took mere minutes to set up the JustGiving page and people from all across the community have been donating and sharing kind words.
“In this case, it’s less about the money and more about finding a way to tell our postmistress that she’s valued and appreciated, and that we’re all thinking about her and wishing her well during what must be such a difficult time for her.”
