Days before her brutal attack on frail pensioner Mary Logie, Sandra Weir was captured on CCTV withdrawing money from her victim’s account.
Weir stole a total of £4,000 from Mrs Logie to fund a drug habit she insisted in court she’d had since her 20s.
Sandra Weir repeatedly struck the defenceless Mrs Logie with a rolling pin in her own home in Leven last January.
Prosecutors believe Mrs Logie was left to die in her flat for most of the day, injured but alive, before Weir returned in the evening to wield the fatal blows.
The 82-year-old, also known as Rae, suffered multiple skull fractures and was found with a total of 31 injuries on her head and neck.
Weir, 41, was convicted of murder by a jury at the High Court in Edinburgh last month and was today sentenced to serve a minimum of 21 years.
