A determined community has vowed to bounce back after the theft of cash meant for young children.
Members of Gallatown Gala Community Group in Kirkcaldy is already devising ways to raise funds, just days after callous thieves stole money earmarked for a kids’ trip.
Staff discovered the break-in when they went to open up the St Clair Street premises on Tuesday morning.
Project worker Shuggy Hughes said: “It’s pretty gutting to say the least.
“People are devastated but it’s testament to their resilience that they’re drumming up different fundraising ideas to raise the money back.”
Police have appealed for witnesses.
Link Up was launched in Gallatown almost four years ago as a way of bringing a somewhat rundown community together and giving them the skills to help themselves.
Since then, 10 groups have been set up including a number of activities for children and teenagers, a bike club and a lunch club, all driven by local people.
Police Scotland said the theft happened some time between 10.30pm on Monday and 9am on Tuesday.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact officers on 101.
