A Fife woman who was left fighting for her life following a fire which killed her boyfriend has been discharged from hospital.
Rebecca Williams, 24, who is better known as Bex, had been in a critical condition after the blaze at the family home of her partner Cameron Logan in Milngavie, near Glasgow, in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
However, doctors have been impressed with her recovery over the last fortnight or so and a spokesperson for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has confirmed that she has been released from the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Miss Williams’ friends and family are said to be delighted at the news, while colleagues at Global Radio, where she works as a radio broadcast journalist, are hopeful she makes a full recovery and can return to work as soon as possible.
Miss Williams’ family home is in Wormit, and her dad Phill posted on social media in the days after the fire to thank well-wishers, adding that his daughter had been “fighting hard”.
An investigation into the fire, which Police Scotland said was started deliberately, is continuing.
Mr Logan’s brother Blair Logan, 26, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday charged with murder and was remanded in custody.
He was also charged with assault to severe injury, danger to life and attempted murder.
