Lucky landscape gardener Drew Lumsden has scored his 11th hole-in-one in under three years.
He was incredulous when he realised his ball was in the hole and not the bunker at St Andrews’ New Course last week.
When he ordered a bottle of whisky back at the St Andrews Links Clubhouse the barman exclaimed: “Not again, Drew!”
The eight-handicapper, from St Andrews, made headlines in 2015 when he beat odds of 183 trillion-to-one to score six aces in a year.
But his run of luck did not stop there and he now has a tally of eight aces on St Andrews courses, two in the US and one in Cullen, Morayshire.
Drew, 59, said: “Getting a hole-in-one is every golfer’s dream.
“The first time I got one I thought it was a one-off and a lifetime achievement but this run is ridiculous!”
He was playing with a group including friend Brian Cowan — who has witnessed four of his aces — when he struck his latest with a driving iron on the par three 17th.
He said: “We both thought we were in the bunker and I was looking in the bushes when Brian shouted ‘no way!’.
“I thought this can’t be happening again.”
The father-of-one was so thrilled he said he felt numb, but he held his nerve to finish his round.
Drew’s first hole-in-one was on the Eden Course in May 2014.
He hit an albatross a further two times in the home of golf before striking one on holiday in Florida.
After another in St Andrews he claimed his sixth in Cullen.
Three more in his home town were followed by his penultimate hole-in-one to date in Minnesota last October.
Drew has credited his incredible string of aces to a lot of luck and some hard work and confidence, having played the game since the age of 14.
Wife Susanne hopes his good fortune will spread to other areas of his life.
Drew said: “She said to me I hope you have put numbers on the lottery, stuff these holes-in-one!”
