A boy, 14, has been taken to hospital after falling into a Glenrothes river.
The emergency services were called to Riverside Park on Roxburgh Road near the town centre on Sunday afternoon.
Residents in nearby streets such as Ancrum Court spotted several vehicles at the scene, with one eyewitness seeing two fire engines, two ambulances, a water rescue boat and a fire marshal car at the scene alongside police.
It is understood the teenager was on a cycle with his dad when he lost control of his bike and ended up in the water.
‘Quite concerning’
One resident said: “It is usually a really quiet street so when all the emergency services pulled up in front of the house it was quite concerning.
“We have no idea what was going on but assumed it might be an incident in the town park.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were in attendance having been called at 12.40pm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.50pm on Sunday August 28, police were called to assist partner agencies following a report of a 14-year-old boy in the water by a bridge at Riverside Park in Glenrothes.
“Emergency services attended and the boy was taken by ambulance to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.”
