The Lundin Links Hotel demolition is likely to begin on Friday, liquidators have announced.
A demolition contractor was appointed on Tuesday afternoon and will move onto the site on Thursday.
And the A915 is expected to reopen next week.
However, work to bring down the building and clear the site is expected to take around five weeks and restrictions will remain on Emsdorf Street until it is complete.
The announcement follows a catastrophic fire which left the C-listed building in a precarious condition.
Firefighters battled the blaze for 17 hours and some residents were evacuated.
The main A915 through Lundin Links has been closed ever since as the building is in danger of collapse.
Work will continue over the weekend
Claire Middlebrook, liquidator for building owner Kaptial Residential, said she was pleased to update the community after Monday’s public meeting in the village.
She said the demolition would involve specialist long reach equipment due to the hazardous condition of the remaining structure.
And protective steel road plates will be used to protect the road surface.
Ms Middlebrook added: “Subject to the final few processes clearing in time, it is the intention to commence the demolition on Friday September 2.
“Work will continue through Saturday and Sunday.
“Fife Council have acted swiftly to waive weekend restrictions on construction works.”
Manned guards and CCTV will be in place
Following demolition, all debris will be cleared from the site.
“In order to safely manage this and prevent accidents on the A915, the request to be made of Fife Council will retain the existing restrictions on Emsdorf Street for the duration of the works,” Ms Middlebrook said.
Site security, including manned guards and CCTV cameras, will be in place for the duration of the works.
An update will be provided in the week beginning September 20.
Lundin Links residents expressed serious concern over the A915 closure at Monday’s public meeting and called for demolition as soon as possible.
Many vehicles have been ignoring the diversions in place and heavy traffic, including HGVs, has caused chaos.
Meanwhile, businesses in Leven Road have seen a huge drop in customer numbers and said they feared they could close if the road closure continued.
