The 10th annual Kingdom FM Local Hero Awards, again co-sponsored by The Courier, have been launched in Kirkcaldy.
Nominations are now open for the contest which honours the inspirational work and contributions that unsung individuals, businesses, schools and voluntary organisations make to the Fife community, culminating in a glitzy dinner and ceremony at the end of August.
The full list of main sponsors are Paint Tec Accident Repair Centre, Gym Sixty-Four, Pentland Landrover Cupar, GIA Business Properties Ltd, Forth Ports, The Courier and Owen Buchanan Builders & Skips.
Over the last decade Kingdom FM’s independent judging panel has received 10s of thousands of nominations for groups and individuals in Fife who make a real difference in the community.
Nominees work selflessly behind the scenes in schools, in workplaces, on the streets and in homes.
They don’t ask for thanks. They don’t crave the spotlight. They put the needs of others before their own.
But for one night, that all changes with Kingdom FM’s Local Hero Awards.
It’s the annual gala event that recognises Fife’s unsung heroes.
It’s the organisers and sponsors’ small way of saying ‘Thank you for making a difference. Thank you for all you do.’
Nominations can be made by going to

This year there are 13 categories recognizing individuals, groups, schools, new businesses and community initiatives.
The Local Hero Awards takes place at Rothes Hall, Glenrothes on Friday August 25.
