Neighbours have been quizzed by detectives investigating the death of a woman in Fife.
The 39-year-old died in what police have described as unexplained circumstances.
There was intense police activity around a flat in Thornton’s Donald Crescent following the discovery of her body on Tuesday morning.
Officers and police cars remained at the front and rear of the property on Wednesday as the inquiry continued.
It is understood the deceased was not the occupant of the Lochty Court flat.
Residents in surrounding flats and houses were asked by police whether they had seen or heard anything ahead of the grim discovery.
They also reported that forensics officers in white suits spent several hours on Tuesday at the ground floor property which is in the street where toddler Liam Fee died in 2014.
One neighbour said: “The detectives have been at the door asking if I’d heard anything.
“The forensics were there until about 8pm, there were six of them.
“We are all wondering what has happened.
“It is very upsetting.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Glenrothes were called to an address in Donald Crescent, Thornton, around 8am on Tuesday, February 14, in relation to the death of a 39-year-old woman.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances.”
Two-year-old Liam’s mother Rachel Fee and her partner Nyomi Fee were jailed last year for his murder but Rachel has appealed against her conviction.
