Police attended a street in Kirkcaldy on Tuesday after reports of an early-morning disturbance.
Officers arrived at a block of flats in East March Street at around 5.30am.
At least two police vehicles were spotted at the scene, with locals reporting seeing “armed officers”.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a disturbance at a property on East March Street in Kirkcaldy shortly after 5.35am on Tuesday.
“Officers attended and carried out a number of enquiries in the area.
“Further enquiries remain ongoing.”
It is understood police left the scene shortly before 9am.
