Hollywood legend Bill Murray made a young fan’s day by signing his Ghostbusters toy before teeing off at the Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews.
Murray, who played Dr Peter Venkman in the 1984 film, thrilled the waiting crowd when he stopped for a chat during practice at the Old Course on Saturday.
The 72-year-old, who also starred in the 1989 hit Ghostbusters II, signed autographs and admired a toddler’s dinosaur hat.
And he was only too happy to sign his name when a young boy handed over a boxed Ghostbusters action figure.
The movie was one of the biggest box-office hits of the 1980s and also starred Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Sigourney Weaver.
Bill Murray famously attended St Andrews student party
Murray is well-known for interacting with locals during the annual tournament, which sees amateur players team up with professional golfers.
He famously accepted a cheeky invitation to a student house party in St Andrews in 2006 after bumping into a group in a town pub.
According to The Telegraph, Murray got talking to Norwegian student Lykke Stavnef and her friend Marie Bergene in Ma Bells bar.
He later went on to the nearby party, which soon became crowded with students hoping to meet the Groundhog Day star.
Stavnef said at the time: “Nobody could believe it when I arrived at the party with Bill Murray.”

The actor turned out to be an ideal guest when he cooked for the students and even washed the dishes afterwards.
Hollywood pair a hit with Dunhill golf fans
Murray and his pro golf partner Brandon Stone teed off against actress Kathryn Newton at the Old Course on Saturday.
The showbiz pair are set to co-star in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, due for release in 2023.
And both have been a hit with fans at St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie this week.
On Thursday, Murray showed his appreciation for the tournament’s greenkeepers in a nod to his 1980 Caddyshack role.
Meanwhile, Newton posed for selfies with spectators in Carnoustie.
Dunhill fireworks dazzle crowds
Murray’s interaction with the crowds in Fife came just hours before the event’s big fireworks display.
The sky above St Andrews was ablaze on Saturday night as the Dunhill Links Tournament reached a dazzling finale.
Set to music, the fireworks are traditionally let off on the West Sands on the eve of the final day of play.
And crowds gathered alongside the Old Course to watch the spectacular show.
