A man has been charged with threatening and abusive behaviour after dozens of people gathered at a Kirkcaldy street to take part in a protest against a resident they believed to be a paedophile.
The disruption took place on Monday night on Links Street at around 8pm.
Police attended the protest, and a man was escorted from a property by officers.
Another man, aged 47, was arrested and charged. He is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Kirkcaldy protestors shouted as man was escorted away by police
Video from the scene shows officers armed with riot shields bundling a man into a van as around 100 protestors shouted and took videos on their phone.
The protest was organised by an online vigilante group, Fife Parents Against Predators.
Parts of it were streamed, gaining hundreds of likes and comments.
It comes after a number of similar protests took place in Dundee.
In August, police were called to St Mungo Terrace following a protest against a paedophile living in the area.
Just weeks later, another two gatherings on Ballindean Road and Craigmore Street descended into riots.
Three people were arrested and charged with mobbing and rioting following the Ballindean Road incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were made aware of a gathering outside a property in Links Street, Kirkcaldy, around 7.55pm on Monday.
“Officers attended and gave advice and assistance and the group later dispersed.
“A 47-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with threatening and abusive behaviour.
“He is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court today.”
