Tributes have been paid to a 14-year-old boy who was found dead at his home in Glenrothes.
Glenrothes High School pupil Liam McAlpine died at his home in Elgin Drive at the weekend.
In a statement released through Police Scotland, Liam’s family said: “We as a family are devastated by the loss of our beloved son, grandson, nephew and brother Liam McAlpine.
“We wish to be left in private to mourn.”
Police have launched an investigation and said the tragedy is being treated as unexplained.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Fife are investigating following the death of a 14-year-old boy at an address in Elgin Drive, Glenrothes.
“The incident was reported to police around 3.40pm on Sunday, March 5.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.
“A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”
