Motorists faced delays southbound on the M90 following a crash near the Queensferry Crossing.
Drivers faced up to 25 minute delays after a collision just after 3.30pm on Friday.
Traffic tailed back to the Halbeath junction roundabout in Dunfermline.
Traffic Scotland tweeted to advise the M90 lane two southbound was blocked.
It was cleared shortly before 5pm but long delays continued throughout the evening.
The road body said two vehicles crashed, but police later said three vehicles were involved.

The tweet read: “A two vehicle collision on the Southbound M90 just after the Queensferry Crossing is currently blocking lane two.”
They later updated motorists to say: “All lanes are now running.
“Still lengthy delays though back over the bridge to beyond Admiralty, with a 30 minute travel time.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.35pm on Friday, police were called to the M90 near the Queensferry Crossing, following a report of a three-vehicle crash.
“Vehicle recovery has been arranged.”
