Christmas is coming and there’s a host of entertainment being lined up in Dunfermline.
Scotland’s newest city is preparing for the festive season with a number of events, including a lights switch-on, a Santa dash and an enchanted glen.
Details of the entertainment programme have now been revealed.
And organisers say there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Dunfermline Christmas lights switch-on
The fun kicks off with the big Christmas lights switch-on on Sunday, November 20.
Dunfermline High Street and Maygate will be closed to traffic to create a safe environment in which to wander around and enjoy the afternoon’s festivities.
1pm to 6pm
The Kingdom FM roadshow will entertain with music and games for all the family.
And a small business market will be set up in Maygate for a bit of Christmas shopping.
1pm to 1.30pm
Registration and fun warm up takes place for this year’s Santa Dash, organised by Dunfermline Rotary Club in aid of various charities.
2pm
The Santa Dash makes its way down the High Street from Marks and Spencer to the Louise Carnegie Gates at the Glen.
It involves dozens of men, women and children dressed as Santa, cheered on by the city centre crowd.
And there is still time to sign up at www.SantaDashDunfermline.co.uk
2pm to 5pm
Festive music and songs from Dunfermline and District Pipe Band, the Black Watch Cadet Band and the Salvation Army will warm up the vocal chords.
Meanwhile, there is a community parade down the High Street at 4.30pm.
5pm
The big switch-on conducted by Fife Provost Jim Leishman.
Other Dunfermline events in the lead up to Christmas
From November 20
An Enchanted Glen will be created when Vartan’s Way, the route from Louise Carnegie Gates to the Andrew Carnegie statue, will be lit up with fairy lights.
The spectacle will also include projected stars and snowflakes as well as a giant Christmas bow.
Dunfermline Museum and Galleries will also host an exhibition of photographs by Joseph McKenzie, known as the father of modern Scottish photography.
The exhibition, called Dunfermline And Its People, will be on until February.
November 28 to December 24
A small business market in the Kingsgate will allow shoppers to buy local and support independent businesses.
