An investigation has been launched after a fire in a disabled toilet at Inverkeithing High School.
Two fire crews were called to the Fife school at around 3pm on Wednesday, though staff had put out the blaze before they arrived.
Pupils were evacuated but no one was injured.
It is understood that school buses home were delayed as a result.
Deputy head teacher Margaret Cumming said: “I can confirm that there was a fire in one of our disabled toilets this afternoon.
Investigation into cause of fire
“Although the fire brigade did attend, thanks to our staff’s quick actions the fire was put out before they arrived.
“Everyone is safe and no one was injured.
“The toilet has been damaged, but at this stage it’s too early to say to what extent.
“Investigations are ongoing as to how the fire started.”
Two fire appliances sent to scene
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
A spokesperson said: “We attended shortly after 3pm. We sent two pumps.
“It was originally reported as a fire in the building
“The appliances were sent from Dunfermline fire station.
Waste paper bin fire
“It was confirmed upon arrival that a waste paper bin was on fire within the toilets.
“At 3.15pm, they ventilated the first floor corridors and stripped away all affected areas.
“Around 3.30pm a final temperature check was carried out using a thermal imaging camera and all rooms were room temperature.
“They left the scene and were back at the station by 4pm.
“There were no reports of casualties.”
