A search for a possible person in the water around the Kinghorn coast has been stood down after items of clothing have been claimed.
A rescue helicopter and RNLI lifeboats had been searching the Kinghorn coast since around 10am on Tuesday after items of clothing were found near the water at Pettycur Bay.
Kinghorn RNLI lifeboat station had posted images of the clothing on their social media pages in the hope someone would recognise them.
📢 If anyone recognises the clothing in these photos, please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Thank you. #kinghorn #pettycur pic.twitter.com/B5znXSSdBe

After searching for around four hours, the operation was stood down after the owner of the clothes came forward to claim them.
A spokesperson for the UK Coastguard said: “We have been investigating a possible person in the water at Pettycur Bay after clothing was found in the area.
“We had the Kinghorn lifeboat and Prestwick search and rescue helicopter searching the Kinghorn and south Fife area.
“We got a call just after 2pm, from one of our coastguard teams that a member of public had identified themselves as it was their pieces of clothing.
“We have put it down as a false alarm with good intent.”
Police Scotland said it had been providing support in the search.
