Three people evacuated from home as heavy rain wreaks havoc in Fife

Three people were evacuated from their home in a Fife village on Friday afternoon as wind and rain battered the east of Scotland.

A water rescue unit was called in to remove residents from a house on Ceres Road in the village of Pitscottie, near Cupar.

An older couple and a younger male were taken to safety in an inflatable dinghy after their home became flooded during persistent heavy rain.

The residents are now being supported by Fife Council and the local authority continues to monitor the weather situation across the Kingdom.

Multiple Fife roads have also been closed due to flooding.

Heavy rain has caused disruption throughout the day, and the amber warning for rain is in place until midnight on Friday.

A Fife Council spokesperson said: “One household was evacuated from Ceres Road in Pitscottie.

“The residents are now being supported by the council.”
