A mass skinny dip for charity is to be held in Aberdour next April, with participants encouraged to bare all for a good cause.
The ‘noody dook’ has been organised by the Carnegie Dunfermline Rotary Club and will take place at Silver Sands beach on April Fools’ Day.
According to organisers, the mass skinny dip will allow participants to enjoy the benefits of exercise and wild swimming while raising money for charity.
Naked swim will be ‘a celebration of life, our bodies and nature’
Nudity isn’t required, however it is an option for those who wish to brave the freezing cold waters bare-skinned.
Rotary club member Lee Walls said: “As well as being a fund-raiser for all the good causes that Rotary supports, the Aberdour ‘noody dook’ will celebrate and promote the health and wellbeing benefits of wild swimming, cold-water therapy and spending time in nature in a supportive environment.
“There are lots of ‘dook’ events in Scotland, but nothing quite like this one.
“We hope lots of people will come and take part in what will be a personal challenge and a celebration of life, our bodies and nature.”
Aberdour Skinny dip will raise funds for charity
The event will run from 9.30am to 10.30am.
Those taking part will need to pay a fee of £13.09, £12 of which will be used to fund causes supported by the rotary club, such as eradicating polio and supporting refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.
Lee says “one or two” organisers will be braving the skinny dip themselves, however the rest will need sit out so the event can be run smoothly.
She added: “Participants might also like to be sponsored to raise money for us, or for their own favourite charities, and that’s fine by us.
“This event is about taking a risk, feeling alive and embracing a moment of pure joy and freedom.”
Online entries for the event are already open, however all attendees must be more than 18 years old.
