Police were called to Glenrothes bus station on Saturday night after a two grown men attacked a group of teens on a service to Pitcairn.
According to passengers, the teens had an argument with the two men before boarding the 37A Stagecoach bus at around 9.30pm.
The pair then followed the kids – who are believed to be around 14 or 15 – onto the vehicle before punching them repeatedly.
Attackers ‘started swinging at the teens’
One passenger said: “As I was getting onto the bus a couple of guys in their mid or late twenties walked up and started yelling at the kids.
“Both sides were yelling at each other.
“The guys were saying something about how the kids had look at them funny.
“The teens got on the bus but one of the guys barged on after them and his mate followed.
“They started swinging at the teens, throwing punches.
“It was pretty serious.”
The teens fought back against their attackers, who left the bus before police arrived.
Bus passengers ‘shaken’ by sudden attack on teens
The attack came as a surprise to those onboard.
The passenger added: “I was quite shocked because it was happening right next to me.
“There were six or seven teens, three boys and then three or four girls.
“Everyone was a bit shaken afterwards. It was the last thing I expected.
“I think one of the teens was saying that he might’ve broken a knuckle hitting the guys.
“One of the men definitely had a swollen lip by the time he left.
“Once the guys were gone the driver phoned the police and the bus was delayed.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Saturday, 26 November, 2022, around 9.40pm, officers were called to Glenrothes Bus station following a report of fighting on a bus.
“The suspects had left the area by the time officers arrived.”
