Universities in Tayside and Fife have dominated a host of recently released rankings.
Abertay University has been named the best in Europe for undergraduate games courses for the third year running, while St Andrews University and Dundee University both rank highly in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Student Experience Survey.
Abertay has been awarded the honour by the prestigious Princeton Review, which also sees the institution placed in the top ten in the world for postgraduate courses in the same subject.
Professor Gregor White, Head of Abertay’s School of Arts, Media and Computer Games, said: “To be featured so highly in this prestigious ranking for a third consecutive year is testament to the hard work, dedication and excellence of my colleagues in the School and across the University.
“To make advances in both lists is an incredible achievement and is particularly pleasing in this anniversary year.”
The award comes as the university celebrates 20 years since becoming the first to offer computer games courses.
The latest student experience survey — published yesterday — ranked St Andrews as third in the UK for academic experience, and Dundee University as offering the 15th best student experience in the UK.
Dundee University’s union was also ranked top in Scotland and 6th in the UK, while its facilities were ranked 5th equal.
Professor Sir Pete Downes, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Dundee University, said the accolades are a “great credit” to all the staff and the Students’ Association.
