Three men have been jailed for their part in a vicious assault on a man in Burntisland last year.
Christopher Martin, 27, Dean Walls, 31, and Craig Robertson, 37, pled guilty to assault to severe injury at Edinburgh High Court.
The court appearances related to an incident which took place within an address on Melville Gardens on June 18 2016, when a 42-year-old man sustained serious and permanent injuries to the head and body.
Martin was given five years and seven months in prison, Walls received six years and Robertson was sentenced to six years eight months.
Detective Sergeant Craig Fraser, of Kirkcaldy CID, welcomed the sentences handed down.
“As a result of this attack the victim sustained permanent injuries which will affect him for the rest of his life,” he noted.
“This was a particularly violent attack and if it wasn’t for the first aid given to the victim by neighbours then I believe that he wouldn’t have survived.
“I hope the sentence the men received will give the victim some comfort allowing him to continue with his life.”
