A Fife community football team has a festive new look thanks to a Christmas jumper-themed football shirt.
Kirkcaldy-based Fife Wanderers is a walking football team and gives older players the chance to enjoy a game.
And it is one of just three across Scotland selected by Tennent’s Lager to receive a bespoke shirt, which is now on sale to the public.
The proceeds from all three will go to charities nominated by each team, with the aim of raising £10,000 in total.
The Fife Wanderers shirt will raise cash for Scotland’s mental health charity SAMH.
Walking football offers a health and social side
Team member Allan Duthie said the game offered people a chance to socialise with other players.
“Fife Wanderers, along with groups throughout Scotland, are organised by Walking Football Scotland,” he said.
“Together we have been able to provide older men and women the unexpected opportunity to play the game they loved but thought had passed them by.
“Walking football is there for all ages and abilities and offers a health and social side, whether it’s a chat after the game, a coffee in the cafe or a day out at a tournament.
“In Scotland there are over 3,500 walking footballers and it’s difficult to put into words just how many benefits a simple game of football offers.”
Other teams picked by Tennent’s are the Glasgow Saints and fellow Glasgow team Cathkin Blazes.
And their charities are a foodbank and a women’s shelter.
Fife Wanderers shirt and how to buy one
Each of the shirt designs encompass the clubs’ colours and logos.
And they include a festive Fair Isle-inspired print that incorporates the brewery, Christmas and a nod to each of the three teams.
Meanwhile, across the back is the club’s core value.
In the case of Fife Wanderers, it is community.
Fife Wanderers is a great example of a team providing a valuable space for those in the community.”

There are 100 shirts in each design and they’re on sale for £35.
Cameron Matthews, senior brand manager for Tennent’s said: “There are some amazing local teams doing brilliant things in their community.
“What better time to turn attention to them and celebrate the role they are playing while raising money for charity?
“Fife Wanderers is a great example of a team providing a valuable space for those in the community to enjoy.”
