A 12-year-old youth has been reported to the Children’s Reporter in connection with a police pursuit that ended in a stolen vehicle being forced off the road.
Police were alerted to the theft of a Vauxhall Corsa in Walkerton Drive, Leslie, at around 9.25am on Sunday.
After a search of the area the stolen vehicle was spotted in High Street shortly after 11am.
Following a police pursuit involving several police vehicles, officers in an unmarked car collided with the Corsa in order to bring it to a halt.
Police closed road for more than 2 hours
The Corsa was forced off the road at the junction of High Street and Glenwood Road shortly after 11am.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the Corsa being rammed by the unmarked police vehicle with a male seen exiting the Corsa moments later then fleeing from the scene.
He was apprehended by officers a short time later.
A 200-metre stretch of High Street was immediately sealed off and remained closed for around two hours as police continued with their investigation.
A Police spokesperson said: “Around 9.25am, police received a report a car had been stolen from Walkerton Drive, Leslie.

“The vehicle was located in High Street, Leslie, whereby tactical contact was deployed to prevent risk to the wider public.
“The male from the car made off and was later apprehended by officers.
“There are no reports of any injuries.
“A 12-year-old male has been reported to the Children’s Reporter.”
