Online shoppers in Fife waiting for Christmas gifts to be delivered by DPD could face delays of up to three days.
The courier company says around 5% of UK postcodes will be affected by the hold up – and Fife is one of the worst affected areas.
The delays have been blamed on strikes among Royal Mail staff, with some 14,000 staff walking out in a dispute over pay and conditions.
Next day delivery suspended
This has put unexpected pressure on DPD’s network at one of the busiest times of the year.
Evri – formerly Hermes – has also reported delays in its delivery chain as a result of the Royal Mail strikes.
DPD has suspended next day deliveries in 5% of postcodes, including several across Fife.
How Fife postcodes will be affected by DPD delays
- KY11, KY12, KY3, KY4, KY5, KY6 and KY99: Parcels ordered from Monday will face a one day delay.
- KY1, KY2, KY7: Parcels ordered from Monday will face a three-day delivery delay.
Are other areas affected?
DPD has shared a full list of service disruptions on its website.
Adverse weather means people in Angus with a DD10 postcode were already experiencing a two-day delay, and those in Perth and Kinross with a PH10 postcode are facing a one-day-delay.
