Police attend ‘incident’ in St Andrews housing estate

Police were in attendance for several hours at an incident in a residential street in St Andrews on Wednesday night.

Multiple emergency services, including police and ambulance, were on the scene at Cant Crescent, leading on to Chambers Place, in the Fife town.

A witness described seeing multiple police vehicles and an ambulance around 5.30pm on Wednesday.

A police officer was also seen guarding a property on the street.

He said: “I heard a load of sirens and and I saw emergency vehicles on the street.

“There is two high-powered police Volvos, six police vans, one normal police car and an ambulance support vehicle.”

“There were still vehicles coming but none of the emergency services had gone inside, they appeared to be waiting outside.

“It’s quite an affluent area and you don’t expect to see anything like this.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are in attendance as part of an ongoing investigation.”

It is understood there is no threat to the wider public.
