A one-year-old girl has died suddenly at a property in St Andrews.
Emergency services were called to a house on Cant Crescent, leading on to Chambers Place, in the Fife town shortly before 5pm on Wednesday evening.
A large police presence, as well as an ambulance, remained on the scene for several hours, although officers say the death is not being treated as suspicious.
One witness said: “I heard a load of sirens and I saw emergency vehicles on the street.
“There is two high-powered police Volvos, six police vans, one normal police car and an ambulance support vehicle.
“There were still vehicles coming but none of the emergency services had gone inside, they appeared to be waiting outside.
“It’s quite an affluent area and you don’t expect to see anything like this.”
