Police are trying to trace a good samaritan who came to the aid of a man being set upon by youths in Dunfermline.
The incident happened at around 11.40pm on Thursday March 16 while the man was walking at the back of Dunfermline Bus Station towards the taxi rank in Queen Anne Street.
A number of young men or boys, believed to be around 16 years of age, pushed the 61-year-old in the back, causing him to fall and strike his head.
During the assault the victim heard a member of the public challenge the suspects, causing them to make off.
PC Andrew MacKay of Dunfermline Police Office is keen to trace witnesses, in particular the person who stepped in to help.
