The body of a 32-year-old man has been found in a Kirkcaldy woodland.
Police discovered the body near Gourlay Street at around 8.40am on Thursday morning.
The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Officers have not yet named the man.
Police helicopter heard above Kirkcaldy
The discovery comes after police and coastguards launched an extensive search involving a helicopter on Thursday morning.
The activity was noticed by residents, with several spotting the police helicopter circling above the town between 6am and 8am.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40am on Thursday, the body of a 32-year-old man was discovered in a woodland area near Gourlay Street, Kirkcaldy.
Death ‘not suspicious’
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A spokesperson for the coastguard said: “Coastguard assets were sent to assist police in the Kirkcaldy area this morning (January 12).
“This includes the coastguard helicopter from base in Prestwick, and coastguard rescue teams from Kinghorn, Leven and South Queensferry.”
