A woman has been injured in an incident in a residential street in Burntisland on Sunday.
The 21-year-old was taken to hospital with a head injury following the incident in the town’s Kirkton Road.
She has not been named and her condition is unknown.
Woman found injured
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 4.40am on Sunday, to a report of a concern for person in the Kirkton Road area of Burntisland.
“A 21-year-old woman was found injured and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with a head injury.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
Kirkton Road was sealed off for several hours while the incident was ongoing.
It has since re-opened.
It is not known how the woman sustained the injury. Police and ambulance were at the scene.

One eyewitness said: “I heard noise and a dog barking and the next thing police and ambulance turned up in the street.
“The police put up tape to stop anyone getting near the building that seems to be at the centre of the incident.
“I have no idea what is happening.”
Meantime Stagecoach East have been forced to reroute buses because of the incident.
Police have closed Kirkton road in both directions, service 7a will divert via Cromwell road, Aberdour road in both directions until further notice. Apologies.
