St Andrews is to host the UK premiere of Tommy’s Honour, the hit film about the founding father of golf Old Tom Morris.
Stars of the movie directed by Jason Connery are expected to walk the red carpet at the New Picture House, next door to the house where Morris lived.
The independent cinema confirmed that it was the venue for the glittering event on June 30, which it will host in partnership with the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa.
Tommy’s Honour, starring Peter Mullan, Jack Lowden, Ophelia Lovibond and Sam Neill, has been popular with critics in the US where it was released in April.
Connery, son of Sir Sean Connery, shot scenes in St Andrews and elsewhere in Fife for the film, which tells the story of the four-times Open champion and his stormy relationship with his son Young Tom Morris who incredibly matched his Open record before his death at the age of 24.
David Morris, managing director of the New Picture House, said: “We really are delighted to be hosting the premiere.
“It is fitting that it should be held here in St Andrews, Old Tom Morris’ home, and particularly as the house where he lived is next door to the cinema.”
Producers and cast members have been invited to the event, ahead of the film’s general release on July 7.
Other high profile guests are also expected to attend.
Mr Morris said: “We hope that the cast and those behind the scenes will be well represented.”
Tommy’s Honour won the 2016 Scottish Bafta for best feature film.
Mullan, who starred in Sunshine on Leith, plays Morris, who was greenkeeper at the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, Lowden his son and Guardians of the Galaxy star Lovibond his daughter-in-law.
Jurassic Park star Neill is Alexander Boothby, captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club.
The Old Course Hotel is selling tickets to the showing, with hospitality provided before and after at its Hams Hame and Jigger Inn pubs.
Hotel general manager Stephen Carter said: “It’s an honour for us to be involved in this.
“Young Tom Morris and Old Tom Morris are iconic in this town with many visitors being taken in by their remarkable and emotional story.
“I’m sure everybody lucky enough to get tickets will have an absolutely wonderful time and learn a lot about the history and character of St Andrews in the process.”
