Anxiety and excitement is growing by the minute in one Kirkcaldy neighbourhood.
It’s all down to the simple matter of £3 million up for grabs in the People’s Postcode Lottery.
Players in the KY2 6 area of the Fife town will learn on Saturday morning just how large a slice of the mega prize pot will be winging its way to them.
Winners of the monthly Postcode Millions prize have already been invited to the special ceremony in Beveridge Park.
All that those who received an invitation to the party – where The Voice 2016 winner Kevin Simm will perform – do know is that the minimum they will be going home with is a stonking £500.
As the tension mounts, and giant cheques are handed out, the full winning postcode will be revealed. Players living there will be heading home with the lion’s share of the pot.
They will be hoping to be as lucky as the two neighbours in Brechin who won a remarkable £239,663 each after their postcode was picked by the People’s Postcode Lottery last month.
It’s not the first time Fifers have struck gold by playing the lottery.
Back in December 2011 a Cowdenbeath family scooped £500,000 through a single ticket boosted by a free promotional ticket offer on the Christmas Millions prize draw.
As well as the jackpot winner, 225 other players in the same area also won prizes.
The following year saw three neighbours from Cupar split almost £1 million amongst them after winning the lottery’s Summer Millions.
Nearly 180 other local players also struck lucky winning anything from £670 to nearly £17,500.
Of course, it’s not just the winning players who will strike it rich.
So far players have raised more than £190m for charity.
That includes Greener Kirkcaldy, which last year received more than £17,000 for its community food hub project.
