This is an important ward for Labour, being home to current Fife Council leader David Ross and Kirkcaldy area chairman Neil Crooks.
Both were comfortably re-elected, along with sitting SNP councillor Carol Lindsay.
It may be the status quo as far as councillors are concerned but the result brought the SNP and Labour within touching distance of each other across Fife as a whole.
Mr Ross said he was delighted to be back but had expected his majority to be bigger given the reception he received at the polling station.
“I think the national picture has had a lot to do with it, with independence and Brexit coming up,” he said.
“Neil and I have been a good team for the ward and we need to represent everybody, no matter who they voted for.”
Mr Crooks said he had concentrated on local issues and local people had voted for him based on his track record.
“People were bothered about local issues and that’s what we spoke to them about,” he said.
