It’s all change in Ward 21 with Levenmouth area chair Tom Adams ousted in favour of Labour colleague Colin Davidson and the election of the area’s first Conservative councillor in decades.
Graham Ritchie became the final Tory to be elected, bringing the party’s tally to 15.
He said he took advantage of the fact he came third in the by-election in December to build on his profile and canvass votes.
“The national picture undoubtedly played a part,” he said.
“There’s the referendum which was the main platform all the Tories stood on but in local terms I was pro-Levenmouth Rail Campaign, which I’ve been a member of since its inception.”
Veteran councillor David Alexander has been returned to build on his 31 years’ service in the area.
He said he was delighted to be back but was devastated for Tom Adams, who he counts as a personal friend and an excellent area chairman.
“In Levenmouth we all work together for the area, no matter our politics,” he said.
“I should say thank you to the voters for re-electing me. I’m humbled.”
