Police confirm no suspicious circumstances after body found in Fife river

Police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body in a Fife river.

Emergency services were called to the River Leven in Leslie just before 5.30am on Tuesday.

The police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service – including a water rescue unit – were all in attendance.

Officers remained at the scene on the A911 Leslie Bridge, over Lothrie Burn, which feeds into the river, for several hours.

Police launched an investigation following the discovery but have now confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.20am on Tuesday, the body of a man was discovered in the River Leven, Leslie.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and his next of kin have been informed.”
