Rail services through Fife were disrupted on Saturday night after a child wandered on to the railway line.
Police Scotland say the child had gone on to the line at Cowdenbeath to look for dogs.
The child and the dogs were all recovered and taken to safety.
Police: “All safe”
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “A child had gone on to the line to look for the dogs.
“They were all traced and were safe.”
Scotrail tweeted that train services between Edinburgh, Glenrothes, and Kirkcaldy were subject to disruption due to trespassers on the railway at Cowdenbeath.

A spokesman for Scotrail said: “Yesterday evening ScotRail services between Edinburgh, Glenrothes, and Kirkcaldy were subject to disruption due to trespassers on the railway at Cowdenbeath.
“Police Scotland attended the incident.
“Following the incident, the line was reopened and services started to return to normal around 20.30.”
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “We’re sorry to customers who were delayed due to trespassers on the railway on Saturday evening.
“Anyone delayed by 30 minutes or more can claim compensation though our Delay Repay Guarantee.”
