A Glenrothes trampoline park has confirmed that they are still operating despite a major retailer lodging plans to move into its premises.
An application has been submitted to Fife Council for Poundstretcher to move into units 2 and 3 Pentland Park, in Saltire Retail Park.
The site is currently occupied by Xtreme Trampoline Park.
Poundstretcher already has a store just across the road in the old Focus DIY unit, where it has been for nearly a decade.
When contacted by The Courier, staff at Xtreme Trampoline Park refused to comment on the application – and what it means for the future of the facility.
Trampoline park responds to Poundstretcher plan
But in a Facebook post the firm said: “Further to the online media post earlier today, we would like to reassure everyone that Xtreme Trampoline Park is not closing.
“The long-term plans for the premises have always allowed for some flexibility but please be assured there are no imminent plans to move.
“All planned parties etc still going ahead.”
Poundstretcher ‘key to retail park’s success’
The park is popular with locals, with more than 11,000 followers on Facebook and a 4.5 out of 5 rating.
The application from Poundstretcher comes after planning permission was granted last May for The Range to move into the site it currently occupies.
According to documents lodged with the council by the retail park’s owners, the retention of Poundstretcher is seen as “key to its continued, long-term success as a commercial centre”.
Discussions have been ongoing to find the discount retailer a new home.
The planning statement says it is expected the use of units 2 and 3 as a trampoline centre will “cease in the near future”, allowing Poundstretcher to move in.
The plans would include current permission for the units being amended to increase the number of goods being sold there.
Both Poundstretcher, and a planning agent for the park’s owners, have also declined to comment.
