A Fife primary school is closed to pupils today after being hit by severe flooding at the weekend.
Pupils at Castlehill Primary in Cupar have been given an extra day off after an alert went out from Fife Council to say the school was shut.
Head teacher Lynn Dyas said in a message to parents: “Please be advised that Castlehill Primary School is being closed to pupils today due to severe flooding which has taken place over the weekend.
“We will be deep cleaned today and will reopen tomorrow.”
Residents in Ceres Road had to look out emergency sandbags and bags were also put at the entrance to the school as a torrential downpour hit north east Fife at teatime.
Firefighters were called in to pump water away from the area and the road was closed for several hours.
The text and online alert from the council was posted at 8.20am on Monday as teachers arrived at the school.
The weekend rain, thunder and lightning followed the hottest day of the year on Friday when locals basked in soaring temperatures.
