Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with a serious assault in Burntisland on Friday night. The youngster is thought to have been part of a large group of youths who attacked a 33-year-old man in Dick Crescent. A report will be submitted to the Children’s Reporter. Officers say they are following a positive line of enquiry in relation to a number of other suspects thought to have been involved. Police had appealed for witnesses to the terrifying incident in which the victim was beaten with sticks and had his head stamped on. He required “significant treatment” for serious facial injuries at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. One eyewitness described the attack as both vicious and frightening.
