A man and a woman have been found dead in a flat in Cupar.
The bodies of the 23-year-old Keiran Nelson, and Tianna Charite, 22, were discovered on Orchardgate in the Fife town.
Emergency services – including several fire crews – were called to the scene at 12.30pm on Tuesday following reports of a concern for person.
Police were initially treating the deaths as unexplained but now say there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
Residents’ shock at Cupar deaths
The cause of the deaths has not been confirmed.
Keiran’s mum Wendy has paid tribute to her “mischievous and loving” son.
Residents in Cupar have told The Courier of their shock.
One woman living in the area said: “It’s terrible.
“I came home yesterday evening and the area was taped off and then I saw the news
“It’s a real shock to see this happen.”
Another man said he also saw fire engines at the scene.
Fire detection unit called to scene
He said: “I also saw plain clothes officers outside the block of flats and a few people with white coats on.
“The residents were standing outside as well, like they weren’t allowed back in.
“There’s no real trouble around here so it’s a shock”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We had four appliances and a DIM (detection, identification and monitoring) unit in attendance
“They were sent from Cupar, Auchtmuty and Glenrothes.
“The DIM unit came from Balmossie.
“The call came in at 1.08pm and the stand down message came at 2.59pm.”
Deaths not thought to be suspicious
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.40pm on Tuesday, we received a report of a concern for person at a property in Orchardgate, Cupar.
“Emergency services attended and the bodies of a 23-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were found within.
“The deaths are not thought to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
