A Dunfermline woman has been left “in shock” after her car was broken into hours before going on holiday.
Kerry Adams, 27, was getting ready for her flight to Tenerife when she got a call from her mum saying one of her car’s windows had been smashed in – an hour before she and her partner were due to set off to the airport.
The incident is believed to have happened in the early hours of Saturday, May 13.
She thinks a man and a woman, who were spotted by neighbours in the area during the night, are the culprits.
The fraud adviser told The Courier: “When I got told the news I was in shock – I just started crying.
“I was at my boyfriends house the night before as we were going on holiday the next day.
“At about 10.15am I got a call from my mum, who was going to grab something from the car.
“She noticed that my driver’s side window had been smashed and glass was all over the floor.
“I quickly ran down to the house – it seemed they were rummaging around but I’m lucky nothing valuable was in my car.
“Since I put an appeal post on Facebook, I’ve had a lot of Ring Doorbell footage sent to me.
“It looks to be a man and a woman in the videos but the only problem is that it’s hard to see their faces.
“The area I live in is very quiet and has lots of families so it’s a bit of a shock.”
Holiday not ruined
Kerry reckons she will have to fork out around £250 to replace the window – which her insurance won’t cover.
Despite this, she has not let the incident ruin her holiday.
She added: “It certainly helps that I’m in the sun in Tenerife.
“I think if I was at home I’d just be thinking about it more and getting upset about it.
“I have neighbours at home who are keeping an eye on it and making sure the window remains all boarded up.
“Everyone has been really supportive.”
Police investigation
Kerry reported the incident as soon as she could and the police are looking into it.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 10.50am on Saturday, May 13, officers were called to a report of damage to a car on Norton Place, Dunfermline.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
