Thousands of pounds have been raised to help a Fife dad who has been left in a coma in Tenerife.
Lukas Nedza, 25, from Glenrothes, took ill earlier this month – a day into his holiday with partner Ellis Campbell and their 11-month-old daughter Dominika.
Ellis – who is pregnant – says there is a mystery over what has caused Lukas to be placed on a ventilator as he fights for his life on the Spanish island.
She told The Courier on Saturday: “The insurance is not paying out because Lukas doesn’t have an exact diagnosis yet, the doctors don’t know what’s causing it.
Prayers for Fife dad in coma
“He had an abscess in his mouth and a sore head for a few weeks but the doctors are saying they can’t find an infection in his brain.
“They don’t understand what’s happening, they say they have never seen it before.”
A GoFundMe launched to help the family cover costs in Tenerife has now raised nearly £8,000.
Some have donated hundreds of pounds to the cause.
One donor said: “I am praying you can conquer this virus.”
Another posted: “I know it’s not a lot but any penny counts and I hope you guys get to where you need to be with Lukas. Thoughts and prayers for the whole family.”
One other said: “Such sad news. Thinking of you all.”
‘Every day we will keep fighting’, says partner of Lukas Nedza
In a post on Facebook on Saturday, Ellis wrote: “We are so thankful for every single one of you amazing people who have donated and helped us all, thank you for so many kind messages. Every day we will keep fighting.
“Lukas’s family are arriving over the next few days and we can all be here together for him.
“Keep praying. Love from us all.”
