A tractor driver has died after his vehicle overturned on a Fife country road.
The 53-year-old, named locally as Malcolm White, was pronounced dead at the scene after the accident between Ovenstone and Carnbee in the region’s East Neuk.
Emergency services were called to the incident at around 8.30pm on Wednesday but arrived to find he could not be saved.
Mr White, of Pittenweem, was driving a Case agricultural tractor when it overturned.
It is understood he may have taken ill at the wheel.
No other vehicles were involved.
Mr White was said to have lived in the area for a long time and was well known locally.
The Fife father lived in Pittenweem with his wife Joanie.
He was a former employee of local firm Ovenstone Engineering and at the time of his death was working for a farm near Carnbee.
Colinsburgh residents reported hearing “sirens screaming through the village” after the alarm was raised.
Road policing officers are investigating the accident and have asked witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Alastair Purvis said: “Sadly this incident has resulted in the death of the tractor driver and while we are satisfied no other vehicles were involved, we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened.
“Motorists or other members of the public who were on the Ovenstone to Carnbee road on Wednesday evening and who have information that can assist with our ongoing investigation should contact police immediately.”
