Kirkcaldy’s Beach Highland Games has had to be postponed due to weather conditions, it has emerged.
The third UK Beach Highland Games, hosted by the local Business Improvement District company Kirkcaldy4All, was due to be held in the Lang Toun on Saturday, but torrential rain this week and a dismal-looking weather forecast has put paid to the event.
The event suffered slightly due to the weather last year, but organisers had high hopes of a great turnout this time around – with a unique combination of culture, sport and entertainment promised on the waterfront.
But with rain in the forecast for the weekend, it has been decided to cancel the Games until a suitable weekend can be found.
A spokesperson confirmed: “We will be announcing an alternative date as soon as we can confirm tide times.”
The cancellation follows a similar decision taken by organisers of Cupar Highland Games, which was also due to be held on Saturday.
Duffus Park was saturated with water after torrential downpours on Tuesday and Thursday, and organisers are trying to find an alternative date for that event.
