Business owners in Kinghorn High Street say they will not be bowed after two shops were broken into over the weekend.
Police are probing the break-ins at Stuart’s bakery and The Butcher Shop, both of which happened at around 2.45am on Saturday morning.
A quantity of cash was stolen but both shops were also vandalised – with repair costs likely to run into the thousands.
Lisa George, who runs The Butcher Shop, said on Facebook that the till had been forced open and the float of around £70 or £80 had been taken, although there was a fair bit of damage done.
She said: “It’s been a shock to find my shop had been broken into – Kinghorn is such a lovely wee town with great people.
“It won’t dishearten us.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible and anyone with information is asked to come forward.”
