Fire crews were scrambled to tackle a blaze at a St Andrews University building early this morning.
The alarm was raised shortly after 2am with two crews from the town’s fire station sent to the university’s science block at North Haugh.
A further two crews from Cupar were called to the scene to assist in tackling the fire, which was found to have broken out in a mechanical extraction system.
Officers remained at the four-storey building until shortly after 5.30am having used a main jet and handheld extinguishers to put out the blaze.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
