Police are investigating the death of a 49-year-old man in Burntisland.
The man’s death is being treated as unexplained as officers continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding it.
Emergency services were dispatched to a property in Dick Crescent at 8pm on Wednesday evening.
Police remained at the scene throughout Thursday and forensics officers were seen coming and going from the upstairs flat.
The man’s identity is yet to be released.
An appeal was issued for anyone with information which could aid inquiries to get in touch with police.
Neighbour George McLauchlan, who is secretary of the town’s community council, said there was police presence at the block of flats until late on Thursday evening.
He said: “When I came home about 10pm on Wednesday there was a police car outside and they were there until about 9pm the next day.
“There were forensics officers coming in and out and at all times there were two police officers sitting in a car outside.”
He said a man lived alone in the flat, having moved in just two or three months ago.
The death occurred in same street in which a 33-year-old man was attacked in May, and a police officer was assaulted during a disturbance on the Links.
Concerns have been voiced about antisocial behaviour in the area.
Mr McLauchlan said: “It seems to be one thing after another in Burntisland just now.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police are investigating following the death of a 49-year-old man at an address in Dick Crescent, Burntisland.
“Officers were called to the address around 8pm on Wednesday, July 5.
“Police and emergency services attended however the man sadly passed away.
“Inquiries are ongoing. The death is currently being treated as unexplained, however the circumstances are not believed to be suspicious.
“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Kirkcaldy CID, quoting incident number 3599 of July 5.”
