The body of a pensioner has been found on the Fife coastline, police have confirmed.
Officers were scrambled to Shell Bay, near Elie, along with the coastguard and the crew of the Anstruther lifeboat on Saturday morning.
An investigation has been launched, however, police have said that there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
A statement from the force said: “Police in Fife can confirm that a body of a 71-year-old man has been found at an area near the Coastal Path at Elie, Fife.
“Inquiries are at an early stage but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”
